Summer is a fantastic time to start on any fun house projects. Not only is it the time when most people go to sell their homes (so your neighbors will be very grateful for any improvements), but it’s also statistically the time when you are most excited and motivated about starting projects.
Why? Because in the winter, it is too cold and everything is gloomy. In the fall, there are too many exciting things going on such as Halloween and Thanksgiving and in the Spring, quite a few people in Florida have allergies and want to stay indoors. With that being said, summer is the perfect time to knock everything out! Here are a few fun summer house projects that I would love to do:
Landscaping is the number two recommended improvement from real estate agents when it comes to getting your home ready to sell. Curb appeal is so important and during the summer, it’s easy to accomplish since there are so many in-season, beautiful plants.
Realtor.com says, “Most homeowners spend an average of $1,784 to $3,168 per landscaping project, and the good news is that they’ll usually make back a good chunk of that cash. According to landscape economist John Harris, keeping up your grounds can contribute to a whopping 28% of your home’s overall value (which makes sense, because a beautiful yard is the very definition of curb appeal).
It gets hot in Florida, so new fans are definitely an investment that most homeowners are willing to make.
The great thing about them is that if you know what you are doing, you can install them yourself. Luckily, my husband is our Mr. Fix It and installed 3 fans in our house: upstairs, office & kids room! If you don’t know how to install them, then hire someone and it won’t be too crazy expensive.
This sounds like a huge undertaking, but don’t worry – it really is easier than it looks, if you know what you are doing! Sure, kitchen backsplash has the potential to be challenging, but there are ways around that.
For example, Faux Brickwork offers faux brick panels that are lightweight and easy to install. The great thing about the Faux Brick panels from Faux Brickwork is that they look real. The company says, “we are able to provide exceptionally authentic looking brickwork to any setting. Our high quality materials ensure you achieve the look and feel you require without the need for expensive and timely building work. Our versatile materials make it easy and affordable to create the perfect atmosphere both at work or home.” Faux Brickwork is the leading supplier of faux brick to the domestic and commercial world.
Supplied faux brickwork to many luxury homes, bars, restaurants, nightclubs, offices, and retailers and located out of Clearwater, FL, Faux Brickwork is your go-to if you need faux brick panels that look real, but are easy to install.
I wanted to add this part because I am currently redecorating our home office.
As a Scentsy Consultant I’m my own boss. Because of that I’m really enjoying finding colors and pieces that inspire and motivate me. Recently, I saw such a great sign I loved for the office: “ It always seems impossible until it’s done.”
An At-Home Gym
If you have a room or a specific area in your house that is not being used, this is the perfect summer project! Sometimes the summer can get dreadfully hot and prevent you from wanting to go out for a run. Or maybe you can’t work up enough motivation to drive to a gym. Therefore, an at-home gym can provide you a space for working out without having to leave your home.
The main thing this project requires is exercise equipment. I’d say the most necessary items for starting up an at-home gym are various free-weights, a mat, a bench, and a mirror. If you are willing to drop a little more money, a treadmill is a great investment! It is the perfect way to get that cardio in the winter months.
